This week I introduced the world to my summer project, Love, Teaching, and Tennessee. I have posted new items to my TPT website.
All of my posts so far have been focused on Social Studies because Tennessee recently changed their curriculum and the resources available are lacking. I wanted to create something that was helpful and useful to all other teachers who are in the same situation as me - looking for new fun resources for our students.
Here are the first few standards and resources:
4.1 Describe the legacy and cultures of the major indigenous settlements in Tennessee including
the Paleo, Archaic, Woodland, and Mississippian: (C, G, TN)
• Coats-Hines Site
• Pinson Mounds
• Old Stone Fort
• Chucalissa Indian Village
4.2 Analyze religious beliefs, customs, and various folklore traditions of the Cherokee, Creek,
and Chickasaw, including: (C, TN)
• Principal Chief
• summer and winter homes
• Beloved Woman
• recreation
• clans
• maternal designations
4.3 Create a visual display using multiple forms of media to identify with pictures geographic
terms including bluffs, swamps, isthmus, gulf, sea, bay, and cape. (G)
4.4 Trace the routes of early explorers and describe the early explorations of the Americas,
including: (C, E, G, H, P, TN)
• Christopher Columbus
• Ferdinand Magellan
• Amerigo Vespucci
• Robert de La Salle
• Hernando de Soto
• Henry Hudson
• Jacques Cartier
Please come back and check out other resources as I am constantly updating my store's resources.
